The Moluccan community in Elst took action to raise money for the villages affected by the earthquake. In the month of December 2019, the Moluccan community in Elst showed its own initiative to set up an aid campaign through a door-to-door collection in their own hometown. Three local political parties (BOB, D66 and PvdA) have also shown their willingness and supported this action through various campaigns. In addition, the municipality of Overbetuwe (Elst) and the umbrella organization Joint Churches Elst donated a large amount. In short, a successful local donation campaign for which there is much appreciation.
The plan was to send a delegation to Maluku in 2020 to provide assistance where needed. Unfortunately, in March 2020, the corona pandemic broke out all over the world.
The aim was then to provide direct aid to the villages that were affected by the earthquake in 2019, such as the restoration of primary schools that were destroyed or damaged by the earthquake and where necessary to provide financial aid for the facilities for education and training.
We were finally able to realize this in the month of December 2022. The Moluccan Neighborhood Council Elst would like to show this result to the community and donors on March 22.
Entrance is free, but reservations are required due to limited seats. And is aimed at the donors and the community in Elst.
The documentary will be online after March 22. Keep an eye on our website and socials.
